A federal advisory committee on Thursday recommended for the first time that the U.S. soften its ban on blood donations from gay men.
Under the new recommendations, made by the U.S. Health and Human Services' Advisory Committee on Blood and Tissue Safety and Availability, gay men would be able to donate blood after a year of abstinence. Under the current rules, men who have had sex with other men are essentially banned for life from donating blood.
Well if you two are virgins it's okay. It's specifically for MWHSWM (aka non-virgin gays)
This is what I thought. They didn't specifically ban gay men from donating, just men who have sex with men. So if you're gay and a virgin you could still donate just fine. What they are worried about are the STDs that could be caught from anal sex which is (I guess) more prominent in gay male relationships.
How? It's fact that homosexuals are more likely to contract STD's from sex than straights. Any blood with the STD would spread the disease to anyone it was given to.
