The director for the new Aaliyah biopic are doing extensive research for the little lookalike, Keisha Chante.

Fans anticipating R&B singer/actress Aaliyah's forthcoming biopic can rest assured that the film is going to be as seamless as Jennifer Lopez's praised role in Selena. According to Bill Condon, the director for the as-yet-untitled pic and famed director of the hit film 'Dreamgirls' starring Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx, Aaliyah's biopic and its cast are studying hard to make sure the pic is up to par. "We are going to great extremities to make this movie perfect. We have (Keisha) Chante in extensive... ...training studying, speaking with family members, watching personal footage and in choreography training with Aaliyah's choreographer and dear friend Fatima Robinson. This movie will be seamless the same way it was for Selena fans who enjoyed Jennifer Lopez." In addition to Keisha Chante, who has been cast as Aaliyah, the "One In A Million" singer's choreographer Fatima Robinson, Timbaland, Ginuwine, and Missy Elliott are to be featured in the film. "Rock The Boat" music video director Hype Williams has also been tapped for the film to recreate Aaliyah's final video shoot.

Sources close to the much-anticipated film say they'll be "going deep into Aaliyah's life".

Notorious was good, but this one has the possibilty of being great. Aaliyah left a lot of unanswered questions about herself and her career. Hopefully this film will provide some insight

Was she succesful when she was alive?

Yeah. All her albums went platinum and over. She had a lot of Top 20 singles on the Ho 100.
She was in two movies: Romeo Must Die and Queen Of The Damned (this came out after she died).

I knew about her but i wasn't into her music. I saw Queen Of The Damned. Such a sad lost :-/ She was really young

I heard that too and she was supposed to be in the remake of Sparkle. When she died she was at the height of her career, which makes her death even more sad .Aaliyah and One In A Million are two of my favorite albums. If she was alive today, I think she would be more succesful than Beyonce.

is this coming out in 2011 around the 10 yr. anniversary, or before? wasn't sure.... but they should definitely re-release all of her albums and put out one of unreleased material / the promised duet one at the same time

yeah, around 2000/2001 era is when her career REALLY took off, with the success of Romeo Must Die made her a household name, she would have made many more albums if she was alive today & many more films, & probably married too. She would have been 30 years old if she was alive today.
