Nobody earns their talent, because what could you have done to deserve talent when you're just born? This is different than a skill. A skill is learned, practiced, honed until perfected. Someone who is skilled at something, earned that skill. Now, why is skill relevant to this topic?

indentBeing a smart business person is a skill. You learn what works, and what doesn't, and you learn from it until few mistakes are made. Music is a business, and how successful you are in the business is determined by how much you make off of your music, be it tours, singles, albums - money is the name of the game.

indentSo, if someone is a successful artist, it's because they did business well. If someone is a talented artist, it's because...they were born blessed. Now, having good vocal technique can be taught...to an extent. Being a good dancer can be taught...to an extent. But eventually, you're just going to have to be naturally gifted with these traits to be considered "great" at them.

indentThe point in this thread is...stanning for someone because they're talented is the same thing as stanning for someone because they have brown eyes, or because they're tall. They were born that way, and did nothing to deserve it. Stanning for someone with suiccess is stanning for someone who is skilled in some way...may that be marketing, smart business deals, or just releasing at the right time. Music's a business, business is a skill, and a skill is earned.

Miley has them both. Very talented & has great vocals but also knew how to play the media well which made her one of the biggest stars last year.

People who stans for success arent here for the artist or the music, once the act starts flopping part of his stans will jump ship.

How does a pop star being successful ultimately affect you though? Its not like you get a share of their coins or know them.

At least stanning for music means you get something out of it to enjoy.

Your OP made it seem like you think both mentalities are equal, not that one is better than the other.

Also, keep in mind that not every single artist "learns" how to manipulate the business and become successful. In today's age of technology, anyone can instantly become famous, especially in music. For example, Iggy naturally blew up. She didn't calculate how to get a #1 hit.

In my personal opinion, I support an artist based on what vision they set out for themselves and their artistry. It's nice to have receipts to cling on to but they're not my end all when it comes to supporting an artist. Gaga can literally sell only three copies with her next album, it wouldn't make me stop loving her because I know that she truly embodies her artistry and vision and I respect that so much.

People who stan for talent don't really care what type of music they're making. They just know the person they stan for is "talented", and that's good enough.

Exactly my point. There is no point in dragging others for their fave's chart positions or sales when they're not even yours to begin with. Be grateful for the music your faves give you.

Honestly, I do think they're equal...equally stupid. I personally stan for music, because let's be honest, I have faves who aren't successful or generally accepted as talented, but it's just a thought I had that at least people who are successful earned it. People who are talented didn't.
