Why do they do well on Top 40 radio and not on US iTunes? sure there are 2-3 EDM songs that sell well but why do most of them underperform?

And why do people get shocked when any EDM underperforms on iTunes when it's been like this for like 2 years now..?

All of them still had bad sales considering they had a lot of airplay, the "9th single" excuse or whatever isn't valid for Calvin because his album bombed hard in the US.

and I'm talking about recently, not 3 years ago.

Actually We Found Love is a good example for what he's saying. It spend 10 weeks at #1 due to it's high airplay, but it didn't sell much (considering the 10 weeks at number one).

No shade but ARTPOP is another example. The album is failing because EDM and Dance songs are underperforming atm.

Selena's Stars Dance too, she suffered a huge decline from her previous albums even though she had a lot of promo.

EDM is still popular everywhere except the US for some reason.

Notably you haven't referenced #SELFIE, the kween of EDM songs in 2014

There is another wave of music right now. EDM isn't over, and DJs are clearly popular, but dance pop girls are over it seems. The ARTPOP formula is dated, but I wouldn't say real EDM is over. Animals is pretty popular, as is Selfie.

Avici had two digital-radio hits too but there are still many EDM/dance songs underperforming on iTunes, Its not coming back, its been like this since the end of 2012 and early 2013.

1-3 EDM songs that sold well and like 9 that didn't sell well.

Once again, I'm talking about RECENT songs.
