Its basically the dance-pop songs by pop girls or EDM songs featuring female singers that underperform sales wise.

EDM songs featuring male singers (Wake Me Up, Hey Brother, Don't You Worry Child) sell well for their AI.

It's not that EDM songs aren't selling well because the genre is over. They're not selling well because the quality of those songs currently being released is fairly poor. The basics are trying to cash in with watered down, recycled EDM-infused schlock. A great EDM track can still sell extremely well for a long time (Wake Me Up).

Good dance songs excel, many of those "EDM" tracks you listed are pop songs, and terrible ones at that. I mean Neon Lights? Girl you tried

That's because the songs in the OP aren't very good. We've very similar material before.

That doesn't mean EDM as a genre is done for decades. It just needs to move along from that 2011 sound.

Besides those songs are not truly EDM. It's basically dancepop.

You can't use the "they are not very good" excuse, because there are a lot of people who think otherwise.

"truly" or not, they are a mix of dance-pop/EDM hence why I used both terms.

Of course people think otherwise - personally I enjoy some of the songs quite a lot - but objectively, they are generic.

And okay well, they are dancepop songs. Dancepop just has elements of EDM. It's pretty simply in that sense. The reason I'm bringing this up is because you seem to be trying to claim "EDM" (as a huge umbrella term) in general is going out of fashion, when that's not the case.

I would say the problem is these particular songs are probably too similar to what dominated radio for 2 years, and listeners are bored of this exact sound, they don't want to buy the songs.

We're talking about songs though...I'm not going to get in to that promo issue for the sake of staying on topic. I agree with that though. It kind of died out in the US.

It's because they're mediocre and the radio plays them because they're catchy.

The hit EDM songs sell well. Just like hit indie, hit alternative, hit pop, ect.

All mediocre songs sell mediocre. It's just dance songs that get played more on radio than the others.

Rihanna's Right Now and Ariana's Break Free will keep EDM alive

I think its because the target audience for EDM music visits mp3skull more than iTunes
