ATRL: Starbucks to serve alcohol nationwide

Starbucks first tested the idea in 2010 at a Seattle store, then tried it in 25 other locations in Chicago, Southern California, and Atlanta starting in 2012.

“As we bring the evening program to stores, there’s a meaningful increase in sales during that time of the day,” Alstead said.

The expanded menu is better suited to bustling urban areas near other restaurants and theaters, Alstead told Bloomberg.

So many local coffee shops in Toronto serve alcohol past 4pm. It's just a good way to get night business.

It is a sign a growing up cause its a privledge you gain at a certain age

It was fine as a pretentious coffee shop already. Starting to turn it into something else by adding alcoholic drinks can just **** everything up. If you want wine and fondue, go to some bar or lounge, not a coffee shop.

Half of the Starbucks here already serve alcohol (Seattle), but I prefer they keep putting out the 'secret' Starbucks that have menus with local food.

**Maybe I'm just used to the cafes in Seattle but pretty much everyone serves something other than coffee + pastries.
