After seeing
this thread, I couldn't help but think of Gaga and get a bit annoyed.
Why is it that when Gaga, a self-identified bisexual woman (although many refuse to believe or acknowledge this), decided at the peak of her career to use her platform for a topic she truly cared about... it ultimately began her downward spiral? Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, on the other hand, are two totally straight men who basically launched their career with a song about LGBT rights. It has ultimately helped them out a lot.
I've seen criticism of M&RL, sure, but not nearly as much as Gaga got from both the straight
and LGBT public; Gaga was branded as a straight woman trying to profit off the LGBT community, and her success has significantly declined as she has become "too gay" to listen to without being embarrassed.
Am I imagining a difference? Or do you guys agree with me? Is it because Gaga is a woman (sexism)? Is it because Gaga brought God into the equation? Is it because BTW supports ALL of LGBT, including trans* people? Is it because people associate Gaga too much with "feminine gays" (who even many gay men look down on)? Or is it just because of Gaga's own "weirdness"?
I hope this doesn't flop (and that I made sense here), because I really want to know
