I'm not here for either their "LGBT activism". Although I can appreciate Gaga's more.

But to answer your question: Welcome to Hollywood, everything always sounds better from the cis white straight male. Just look at movies, do you think LGBT people will ever be cast in roles that actually represent them? No, of course not! Straight people get all the praise for taking on "challenging" roles like a gay or transgender character (Brokeback Mountain, Milk, Dallas Buyers Club,...) yet why not actually cast a LGBT person once in a while. And when a LGBT person actually gets a "challenging" role like play a straight person (which rarely happens obviously) they always get slammed cause it doesn't look natural...
