Honestly what I do which probably isn't the best thing is ignore the person and hope they get the point I try not to look at them and if they try to talk to me I give one word answers and appear as uninterested as I possibly can. I really don't know to reject somebody through words, even just a simple 'no' is too much for me to do.

but it's sad to let go of a potential ally at work...
Honestly I'd just say no and ignore it. If they keep insisting and trying to get you to get in their car then I'd report them to your boss. Tell your boss he's making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe (if you feel that way).

i don't want to report, it;s not that far... it's just weird... another time this person joked about helping thme find ticks on their body when i told them there may be ticks in my car...

You could always just threaten to report if really doing it feels too severe. That might be enough to nip it in the bud because they won't know that you might not actually follow through. Have you made it clear that you're not interested?

i mean, i am a gay man and heis straight and old... what is it o make clear?
If it's unwanted, make that clear. If it persists, speak to someone about it. Some people just don't realize that no means no, regardless of circumstance.
I sense u'r like me and u dont like confrontations .. so do the following . Leave him an e-mail or a letter on his desk expressing your feelings , and that you're not interested/in a relationship/wtvr reason . and that u want things to be normal in ur work area !! I'd definitely do that o..o
I just keep talking to them like normal, and bring up my boyfriend in conv. every now and then to show that I'm not interested and that I'm happy with how I am.
