Tina (The Star) vs. Beyonce (The Statement) vs Janet (The Legend)
So, now I've heard all three new singles from the divas above .... and the verdict is in!
Janet is a legend. Janet has paved the way for girls like Ciara, Britney Spears and other vapid pop tarts -- ummmmmmmm, looks like she didn't inspire anything artistically interesting. Nonetheless, Janet is legendary -- HOWEVER, her new song is about as bland as an undercooked rice cake! After hearing Beyonce’s and Christina's songs I said, "Janet, you are the one who has to do it!" Unfortunately, she didn't do anything, but a remake of the last first single off her embarrassing spectacle of an album Damita No, which was "I Want You" ... a song that didn't even crack the top 40 -- the first for the first single off a new Janet album since Control. “Call On Me” featuring Nelly is a soulless song for a first single – give us dance! Give us drama! Give us fever! Not wispy, sex-kitten vocals!!! The problem is Janet is trying to compete with 22 year-olds ... she needs to take a cue from Madonna, put her clothes back on, do something COMPLETELY different and just hope it is a hit. Even if it isn't a hit then at least you have your artistic credibility, i.e. Prince. Janet splashing herself over tabloid magazines saying how she "lost the weight" is not enough for a come back album -- especially when ANYBODY can look like that with money, plastic surgery and tons of airbrushing! However, Janet is no Madonna (don't attack -- Madonna's album when she was 40 was Ray of Light - the biggest selling album of her career!) and damn sure ain't Prince. She never reinvents her sound, image or even inspiration -- a new weave is NOT a reinvention. Janet is not growing with her fans therefore she will lose her hard-core fan base -- living off her legendary status is not enough! I predict the single will BOMB and so will the album. Btw – NELLY???? Nelly has a better career doing LL imitations than rapping nowadays!
Beyonce – Deja vu? The song is deja vu of “Crazy in Love,” but more like an awful demo version that shouldn’t be released -- also -- and forgive me for reading one inch deep into a Beyonce song -- but according to the lyrics she is NOT having deja vu. She is singing about the same topic as “Crazy in Love” and maybe her people felt, "If you whine about the same topic you will get the same hit!" This alone makes her look as vacant as she did when PETA was wearing out her furry coochie. Btw -- I have always LOVED PETA they are some angry white folks ... did you all see that clip? Beyonce sat there unable to form words like a true country-bumpkin as Tina went off because they were picking on her favorite child! I wish they would've thrown red paint on her like they used to do to celebs back in the 90s. STILL - Beyonce is a statement - I can't deny it. She has popped her snatch all over the world and people fall for it ... the dumbing of America. I do have to give it up for her that she is still doing it – but maybe she needs to stop doing it …. we are having BEYONCE OVERKILL! Dreamgirls is coming out December -- why is she releasing an album in September? She should focus all her energy on Dreamgirls and let us not see her for a few months. It feels too early for another Beyonce record ... "Check On It" was just out ... she released that treacherous clothing line -- it is just too much. I don’t think Beyonce will be the grand diva of the summer - and B-Day will in no way match Dangerously in Love! Lawd, I can’t wait till she is out of style ……… I’m just happy Brandy and Ashanti are finally out of the way!
Christina Aguelira - If anyone has it out of three it will be Miss Christina ... she can sing circles around Beyonce and typhoons around Janet Jackson. I don't really like the new single "Ain't No Other Man,” but it's growing on me. The vocal is incredible for a pop song and I enjoyed it more when I saw her performance at the MTV Movie Awards. Plus, she is doing something different with her new album Back to Basics -- she is taking it HOME with remakes of Millie Jackson, Donny Hathaway and Otis Redding songs. Including original material -- I give the battle to Miss Christina. She is probably the only young artist who can pull an album like this off -- and it doesn't seem contrived. I remember when Dangerously in Love came out Beyonce kept saying she wanted to make a classic like a Donny Hathaway record -------- LAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If none of these three do it, it looks Nelly Furtado with “Promiscuous” and Shakira with "My Hips Don't Lie" will have the "Hollaback Girl" of the summer.

I don't agree with everything this guy said. But he did hit quite a few nails straight on the head. Specifically when talking about Janet. If you have a chance, please read through it. It's quite interesting!

I try to read that with an open mind...but that was not a "nice little read" imo. I disagreed with what he said about many things he said about Bee and Janet. Theres not much to disagree with what he said about Xtina cuz he said some obvious things...but I did disagree with somethin he said about Xtina that I wont mention.

So much hate? This was obviously made by Panosonic or Marquis (joke) or a maniacal Christina Aguilera fan who feels threatened by DV or COM now that ANOM isn't exactly rushing up the charts based on the Mediabase charts.

He's right about Janet. I think COM is terrible. It's really generic.

I would take this article seriously if he was not exagerating in beyonce and janet parts he doesnt look objective and as someone said it before it looks more like it has been done by a xtina article he is so negative about bee an djanet and so positive about xtina

I agree with most of the article. I used to be a big fan of Janet Jackson but with her last two albums it seems that she is trying to compete with younger female artists. Her I'm-so-sexy act has gotten really old. She is in dire need of reinventing her image.
I'm not going to say anything about Beyonce except I think she's completely overrated and her music stinks.
As for Christina I think she's very underrated. It's her image that turns people off because she's always posing naked in magazines, which I don't think she needs to do. I think she'd gain a lot more fans and respect from her critics if they'd put aside the provacative image she's created for herself and just listened to her music. Christina is one of the few pop artists out there that actually produces good and meaningful music.

He was a bit harsh on Janet and Beyonce, but yeah, he dead kind of hit it on the head, especially with Beyonce. Excellent points made on Christina's part as well. She is truly THE female star of today in my eyes. And LMAO at singing "typhoons" around Janet.

Oh please, you know it's true. Beyonce is a great singer but she isn't superior to Aguilera. Beyonce doesn't posess the range, power, and control Christina has.

I just think some of you fans are getting a little too defensive. Because I know that if the shoe would have been on the other foot, and this person would have been more positive toward Beyonce, 2 or 3 of you would be praising it as the best article ever written!
I just took it for what it was. No, I don't agree with everything said. But I'm not gonna denounce it as pure crap either because I know that it's just his opnioin.

Well, they both have the same range, so stop with that. (4.2 octaves). Beyonce hit her E3 and C7 CONSECUTIVELY in a bootleg concert.
