This year has been very good for the artists who never hit number one album on Billboard 200 before.
P!nk, Rihanna and Trey Songz got their long awaited first number one albums.
Also Taylor Swift got that long awaited number one single with WANEGBT

After P!nk's and Rihanna's number ones, the last global female superstar without any number one album is Shakira.
Even though she is the second most liked woman on Facebook + her WW sales are great and she is more global than majority of other musicians, her US popularity is declining. (I still don't get why Waka Waka and Loca flopped. )
She still has a chance of a comeback, even though her latest feature on Pitbull's "Get It Started" flopped.

Waka Waka and Loca both managed the top 40, which is good considering Sale el Sol wasn't aimed at the American market at all.

I think her popularity will pick up again, and I think 2013 will be a great year for her, however I'm not sure if she'll get a #1 album just yet. It is possible, but I'm not sure. Hopefully.

I wouldn't rule it out. But I'll be honest and say if she's couldn't do it in her peak, it will be a tad harder for her to do it now. So I voted no.

I didn't know that Sale El Sol debuted at #7. If she could do it with that album, maybe she can with an album that's actually promoted.

With the right material and first single that serves as a comeback for her in the US , released during a low / weak week of the year she for sure could top the Billboard 200

She will need promotion, a really good first single, a shocking first music video, live performances, she being everywhere...

She is one of the biggest artists world wide.

If she couldn't do it at her peak, it'll be hard for her to do it now. She probably won't with her next album, but she could with the one after that if it's aimed at the US.

Waka Waka had no hype in the US. I never even heard it until I saw it on the Youtube 100 and watched the video.

US was one of the few places in the world where "Waka waka" underperformed.
