I can sort of see Rihanna. She just needs the right singles. IILTYW is one of the best song out right now. Pon De Replay was also a hit. Run It was a hit for Chris Brown. "Yo" flopped, but it might be too early to tell. Teairra Mari, eh, I think she flopped. Trey Songz, well he won't blow up, but he might stick around. He's featured in Twistas "Girl Tonite" T-Pain will flop.

Rihanna's "Pon De Replay" was a huge international hit but her album sold 500,000 copies worldwide overall. Not exactly big. Chris Brown hasn't even officially released "Run It". I doubt it'll be some worldwide hit because, first off, urban artists aren'y always promoted properly outside of the states and I can't even imagine "Run It" being gigantic, crunk or crunk-like songs to do very well outside the states are "Yeah" and "1,2 Step".

Lets be realistic, none of those acts will last more than 5 years, except the Pussycat Dolls. They have 2 huge international hits and their album has sold very well all over the world. With about 2 Million sold so far of the "PCD" album, you can expect an accumulation of 5 to 7 Million albums sold in the end. The success of the singles and album remind me much of the Black Eyed Peas "Elephunk" era. Look at BEP now, their new album has already sold more than their first (compare 7.6 Million to 8 Million).

yes, I would now have to say Pussycat Dolls. Their first two singles have been huge hits, but who knows? That could have been just a fluke...

Not a fluke...Wait A Minute is such a good song, I really see good things for the Dolls...Nicole is the voice separating them from being just a novelty act. And as for the 5 listed the difference in how long they last will be measured in months.

Yeah I don't think we really saw the emergence of any huge talent this past year, or any artists with real staying power, but in lieu of this I will say the Pussycat Dolls have the best chance at a longer-term career than any of the others mentioned.

They're both the most entertaining acts out right now. I think they can gone for years to come, just as long as they keep it fresh.

Another thing, this thread is almost useless seeing as barely any new artists had a big impact on the charts in 2005. PCD did well with an almost platinum and two international hits and Chris Brown had a huge single in the US. The year was filled with comebacks and breakthroughs.
