It's a bad thing. 99% of the time, artists who are too similar to another don't make it far. In this case, Chris Brown is obviously trying to be like and sound like Usher, an established artist who has been around for more than a decade. Chris Brown doesn't stand a chance. Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, and others have had #1s at 16 or 17, look at their careers...
