Yes. She's a queen of her genre in terms of songwriting. Great understanding of pop hooks and she's typically first credited so one can assume she's heavily involved with the compositions/lyrics.

Greg Wells said it was her idea to add the counter melodies in WUIV and the riff on the guitar in the bridge is her. :~)

Yes, she has some really good lyrics like WAILF, ISB, NLTM, etc. I hope to see her songwiritng grow and evolve and become more prominent in the next album

Well, the issue with her writing is that most of it's not actually hers. She often times works with several co-writers, so we don't know which lyrics are coming from her brain and which are not.
But whatever, I believe she is a really good POP song lyricist.

She's first credited and producers has spoke out about how they add their name to the writing process a lot. Bonnie helps her a little. Also, like I said, Greg basically said she does all the work in writing

Producers go under writing too because they compose the song itself.

how do we know that? for all we know those co writers just threw out a single line or just words to make it rhyme or it could be the the other way around. she wrote several songs by herself so idk

A mess, she has explained the meaning behind many of her lyrics  And she's credited for 3 songs (Thinking of You, Mannequin and One Of The Boys) for writing both lyrics and music.

In all honesty, Fireworks not that well written and all I know is that Katy "Wrote" the opening line from a book she read and she wrote baby you're a firework.

Yeah she's decent.
Catchy,but nothing too profound or life changing deep lyrics.Just fun catchy party lyrics.So I would have to say that's a yes. I she's good writer.
You only get better with age,so I'm sure with Katy maturing her music will too.
