honestly I think she's one of the best.
The way how she tells stories and paints pictures in my head is just unique for example OOTB, WUIV, Fingerprints, TD, Peacock (yes, yes, yes) and so many others.
Theres only a few which I don't lyrically like for example the song she gave to selena (or wide awake) .
But overall YES she's great

She has it in her to write great songs. She just chooses not to most of the time.

Dr. Luke said once he typically makes a song with Katy by giving them the beat/main structure of the melody of the song, and Katy and her co writers take over from there and lay the lyrics on top of that.
Also, she's friends with her co-writers. For example she met Bonnie McKee in a thrift store.

Just a few days ago in a radio interview in Phoenix, Madonna said her new favorite song is Katy Perry's "UR So Gay" - Katy and I were pleasantly surprised! I'm glad people are getting to hear it. She's a great new artist and I feel lucky to have worked with her.

This shows the difference between Katy and a lot of other pop artists like Britney and Rih. They have their label hire huge writing camps and at the end of the day they sit back and choose their favorite songs, while Katy pursues writing and making music on her own.
