JENNIFER Lopez and Steven Tyler aren’t leaving American Idol on their own accord.

According to The Wrap, the pair were keen to return for their third season, but FOX didn’t want them back.

Lopez was paid $12 million for her first season on the singing competition show and $15 million for her second. When negotiations opened for season three, her reps asked for $17 million — but the network “surprised her” by not making a counteroffer.

And The Wrap says FOX didn’t even pick up Aerosmith singer Tyler’s option for another season.

Randy Jackson‘s future on the show is uncertain.

pull the plug on this show!!! It's hasn't been as big of a success as they try and make it seem for years. The show is supposed to be about the contestants not the judges and their careers. This is why you barely hear from any of the latest winners. I don't know why people still audition.

It's understandable if they didn't want to re-sign contracts with either of them. They already have an idea of what kind of ratings they would bring, and they are really intent on raising ratings. The new people they sign on could bring the higher ratings.... Or it could backfire.
