In my travels last night and in emails this morning I had three distinct label/publisher execs confirm the same number: that @Spotify has right in the ballpark of 70,000 paid Stateside subscribers after only one week in business. It's hard to put these numbers into context, but it would also be hard to call that anything but positive news for Spotify.

Keep in mind that MOG and Rdio have not reach 100,000 (they are also on demand subscription service like Spotify). Rhapsody is at 800,000 paid subscribers.
Spotify
January, 2010:------------ 250,000 paid subscribers
March 17, 2010:----------- 320,000
July 20, 2010: ---------------- 500,000
December 8, 2010: ------ 750,000
March 8, 2011:--------------- 1,000,000
July 14, 2011: -----------------1,600,000 paid subscribers
____________?: --------------------- 2,000,000 paid subscribers
For those that don't know what Spotify is, this quote pretty much described it.
"Those who have tried Spotify know it's like a magical version of iTunes in which you've already bought every song in the world..." from WIRED.com

I found this stat pretty AMAZING.

Nearly 90 percent are paying the full price while 10 percent are said to be paying 5 euros for limited edition version of Spotify.

4.99 dollars/euros/pounds for computer (ad-free)
9.99 dollars/euros/pounds for mobile access (ad-free)
Let's assume the average subscription is about $10 a month (which I think is a low figure given the fact that $10 USD = 7 euros/pounds).
$10 a month x 2 million paying subscribers x 12 months = $240 mil a year.
If Spotify get 5 million paying subscribers, then $10 x 5 x 12 = $600 mil a year from subscription alone. 5 Million paying subscribers is not that far away in my opinion. (maybe 2-3 years).
For those still looking for invites:
credit to the OP of this thread. I read that Spotify send invites every 15 minutes or so. So refresh your email once in a while.
