I agree with about half of what you said haha! The cinematography was indeed well done, it fit perfectly with the song, and I do agree with you that some of the footage wasn't great, and some of the cuts between scenes seemed awkward IMO. I would have to disagree with you when you say it needed more of a story/symbolism. I think this video was done more as a tribute to her "Little Monsters" and you see that with only GaGa and Clarence in the video. She's singing to us, not some male suitor she's "on the edge with." In fact, she's on the edge of glory with all of us, and I think she portrayed that beautifully with the video.
Overall, I love the concept of the video but I think she could have benefitted from having Joseph Kahn behind the lens. I'm sure his concept was different but I wish they could have set aside their differences and used GaGa's concept and his skill as a director.
