I didn't leave my state (here in Canada, province) for school since I have a great school already close by. I have plenty of friends who are out of province though and enjoy it for different reasons. You just need to plan yourself out financially and be pretty stringent about your spending so you'll need to adult a little bit. Think it through, make sure you can afford it, and take out government loans, take a job, or whatever you can.
My advice is to ask yourself
why you want to leave for school. Is the school you have in mind better for your future wants than one that is closer by? More freedom to do what you want if you're away from family? Better opportunities for the future? Whatever it is, just make sure you tailor it to what you want. I think you'll grow more and complete as an individual if you move away and get more diverse experiences for sure but at the expense of other things like a lot less time with family and less money at your disposal.
