I live in Australia and the media doesn't really talk about her anymore unless it's to drag her. She used to be massive and loved by everybody but she's been struggling ever since Born This Way.
ARTPOP peaked and debuted at #2 but only spent a week in the Top 10, it's not even Gold after 8 months meaning it has sold under 35,000 copies to date.
Applause missed the Top 10 and took months to go Platinum, DWUW missed the Top 20 and failed to go Gold, and G.U.Y. almost missed the Top 100. Her tour dates aren't really selling out either.
Why do you think Australia has moved on from Gaga? I'm a fan and this really saddens me. What's going on?
Well she hasn't provided anything to our taste really. That's it. If her next lead single is more generic, it'll probably be a hit over here again. She needs to do some tv promo here and along with a decent single we'll be her fans again.
We also loved siding with Katy since her music fairs better here.
It is unfortunate because Australia used to be one of Gaga's most successful markets. BTW was her downfall there, she just went all weird and she didn't have any straight forward songs like Poker Face or Bad Romance.

Bad Romance is not simple.
And BTW was her downfall because Australia is surprisingly socially backwards when it comes to music. Anything too gay doesn't really get a chance.
A combination of lack of promotion, and people having moved on to other artists. It would have been interesting to see how it would have played out had she promoted ARTPOP in Australia as much as she did The Fame/Monster and Born This Way. She was meant to do something for ARTPOP in Sydney. I don't think that ended up happening?
If she wants to get Australia stanning again, she just needs to make generic music for mindless consumption - which she seems to be against doing.
Australia was the first to give her a chance and also the first to drop her.
The music scene in Australia doesn't really go for Germanotta's antics and self-indulgent lyrics. Cool electronica is Empire of the Sun, The Presets, Rufus, etc. And then Pink and Katy carve up the pop lovers.

And there you have it.
Pop stans on ATRL stay thinking and entire country hates someone because their latest album didn't do too well. All it means is that the next album has to be more of that country's collective taste.
