Brasil Hot 100 Airplay is the official music singles chart in Brazil. It has been compiled by Crowley Broadcast Analysis and published monthly by Billboard Brasil since the release of the magazine, in October 2009. The top 100 songs, both national and international titles, is based on the total number of airplay spins in the period indicated.

Billboard: Halo held the #1 spot for 27 weeks. Thats more than the 2 months in the OP.

Billboard Brazil.

Carey's song was the one spending 27 weeks atop the chart, not "Halo". Beyoncé topped the first two editions and that's it.

Halo was #1 for 24 weeks in the biggest radio chart we have here in Brazil. Billboard Brasil's charts didn't exist when Halo was smashing in June-September.

Having said that, why are these hits all spending months and months at the top? The turnover of No 1 hits is very slow.

Because we don't have a weekly chart, it is monthly and only count the radio, no sales.

Yes, they should have a weekly chart. It would be more exciting and also clear for us, music fans. An example: Carey's song being the most played track nationwide for 27 weeks, but "only" 6 months at #1 (24 weeks) on Billboard chart. Better this than nothing, though. At least there is an official music chart in South America.
