Beyonce is often ripped to shreads for lacking a true personality (which comes across in her interviews). It's like she's afraid to be who she is, she has to be what she thinks the media wants her to be, whereas Rihanna is just Rihanna no matter whose couch she is sitting on.
Also, the black community always uses her songs more than Rihanna's, singles or not. An example is Dance for You from 4, and Kitty Kat and a few other songs from B'Day.
