So there's various opinions on this matter, with some people saying if you're fat you choose to be like that and others saying people have to have more sympathy for overweight people.

genetics can play a role, but in the instances where a simple lifestyle change could help you lose weight, the barrier is being born into a certain lifestyle/mentality which isn't a choice.

I have a friend who has diabetes where she doesn't receive energy like other people. She has to actually get motivation and push herself.
Some people just don't have the metabolism to do it.
