Uhm, not always. I have hypothyrodism, trust me, gaining 10 kg withing 2 months while I was still working out the same way as before was not my choice (and I'm lucky it stopped after those 10 kg, some people are not that lucky).
People who think that it's always just about eating healthy and going/not going to the gym are simply ignorant.

Not in the slightest.
I've had a very unhealthy relationship with food myself. I was once a little overweight, and some name calling and body-shaming led me to develop an eating disorder. I've been both ends of the spectrum (eating too much and not eating enough) and let me tell anyone that thinks it's a choice they're very wrong. An unhealthy relationship with food becomes a daily battle, whether you're big or small. Despite being slim now, I struggle with my issues everyday, same goes for people who are extremely thin, or people who are extremely overweight.
Sorry to go so personal, but I've seen a lot of body-shamers and fat-shamers on here and it's vile.

I will just say that no it's not a choice. Genetics play a role. Don't quote me either as I won't be responding

that's a lie. being a generally larger person is one thing but just being plain fat is a choice. regardless of someone's mental state.

regardless of your mental state you choose what you eat and don't eat as well as if you are active and maintain your weight.

If you live in USA majority of people chooses to be fat. No matter what you eat if you eat it in moderation you won't have any problem unless u shoved all them foods and buy them XXXL all the time then u'll get fat! If you have medical condition it's a different story but I have seen people use them genetics/ medical condition as an excuse for being fat!

I didn't say only in USA just FYI, I'm using it as example and the truth is majority of Americans are fat.

What an ignorant comment.
Someone who suffers from any form of eating disorder doesn't determine how much they eat or how much they don't eat. Their perception of what is normal is completely blurred, and they don't eat for same reasons a person with a healthy relationship with food does.
Sure, they're the ones who consume the food (or don't), but they do it because their mental state is poor and are unable to make sensible and healthy choices. Do you really believe the phrase "maintaining your weight" is EVER an option for some with an ED? Trust me, you get to a point where you don't care what your health is like, you only care about your size.

Children usually eat what they are given by their parents so if this is unhealthy food then the parent's are in the wrong for them being overweight. But, adults who have full control and awareness of what they are consuming should be blamed because at the end of the day, metabolisms and genetics don't play a key role in an individuals weight, it is how many calories they take in and how many they burn.

Sometimes it's not a choice, for example having a thyroid condition. Most of the time it is though.

I've had and have the same struggle as you, been way too big and way too thin. Having an eating disorder isn't a choice, believe me I know, but I was fat from eating too much. Simple as that. My unhealthy relationship with food lead to the comfort eating, had I learnt to deal with my emotions without using food, I wouldn't have gotten to the size I did

In most cases YES
Fat Americans CHOOSE to eat McDonalds, or in most cases their families did not teach them the right food culture
There are some people with diseases that make them obese, but in most cases it is the food and lifestyle
That's why I am very strict about obese people. Get your **** together you lazy asses!!!!!!!!!!!

No, it's NEVER a choice.
Some people need to eat more and become fat faster. They never choosed to be fat. It takes a lot of hard work to lose the weight and to resist eating. For many people it's just too hard.
Why would anyone choose to be fat?
