So the other day I was chatting with a bisexual coworker of mine who would generally be more or less my "type", and the topic of women came up. In theory, I would have answered a question like "would you date a bisexual" as "of course ", but hearing him describe what his "type" of women are was oddly such a turn off Maybe it comes from growing up crushing on straight/closeted boys and always setting myself up for disappointment, so my mind associates any female attraction to full on heterosexuality*, which = unavailability.

Has anyone else felt the same way? Or did ya'll have preconceptions about bi people that you learned to set aside by dating/befriending one? Does this make me homophobic(biphobic?)? etc.

* And on the topic of heterosexuality, I'm one of those (seemingly rare) gays who are NOT turned on by straight/gay for pay/etc guys. The air of un-attainability is probably the quickest turn off for me.

I feel like they're usually hotter so yes. I don't see why people have more trust issues. Ppl are going to cheat on you whether your black, white, Asian, bisexual, gay or straight.

Some bi's are scared of dating men because they don't want to be exposed as gays by the peers, so they just go for the girls. Experience.

I hate reading how people "can't trust" bisexuals or they trust fully gay/fully straight people more. Like I'm bisexual, but that doesn't mean I'm constantly on the prowess for all the D and V I can possibly get Bisexuality =/= sex addict

Exactly. Your chances for being cheated on aren't really raised by dating a bisexual unless the guy in question is a cheater anyway. Plus some bisexual lean more to guys vs girls.

Sometimes I feel like some people in the gay community keep looking for reasons not to date another person. Too fem, too masc, too promiscuous, too muscly, too thin, too self absorbed, too vain, closeted, bisexual, cross dressing. Everyone has their own taste and preferences, but you can't just exclude an entire group of people because of stereotypes or dumb ideas ("i can't trust bisexuals" )
