Billboard 200 Albums (January 11-18, 2012)
Quote:
Adele's "21" album hangs in for a whopping 15th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 124,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan (down 14%). It's the only title to move over 100,000 this week, as the No. 2 set -- Drake's "Take Care" -- shifts 42,000 (down 41%).
The last album to spend more weeks at No. 1 was the soundtrack to "Titanic," which claimed 16 frames atop the list in 1998. Considering the scant number of albums that were released this week, "21" will likely nab a sweet 16th week at No. 1.
Elsewhere on the Billboard 200 this week is the Black Keys' "El Camino," which jumps 7-3 with 42,000 (though its down 8%). The rise is owed to how the album has a less-steep decline than most of the titles on the chart (basically, those with a smaller erosion actually move up the tally).
Young Jeezy's "TM103: Hustlerz Ambition" slips 3-4 (36,000; down 47%), Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" climbs 8-5 (28,000; down 37%) and Rihanna's "Talk That Talk" skips 9-6 (27,000; down 35%).
The chart's highest debut (and lone new entry in the top 50) is SafetySuit's second studio album "These Times," which arrives at No. 7 with 26,000. It was exclusive to Apple's iTunes Store last week before becoming widely available this week to all retailers. It's the highest chart position and best sales week for the Tulsa, Okla. band, which previously topped out at No. 173 on July 25, 2009 with its debut set "Life Left to Go."
LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking" descends 5-8 (25,000; down 48%), the "Now 40" compilation moves 10-9 (24,000; down 42%) and Florence + the Machine's "Ceremonials" drops 6-10 (24,000; down 50%).

Adele is going to be pushing 350k+ the week after the Grammys, glad Drake is still in that #2 position.

From Paul Grein chart watch:
Quote:
Lady Antebellum's Own The Night drops from #4 to #12 in its 17th week. It's #1 on Top Country Albums for the eighth week.
Adele's 2008 debut album, 19, drops from #11 to #13. This is the 13th time in the past year that Adele has had two albums in the top 20. 19 is #1 on Top Catalog Albums for the 30th week. Only one other debut album has spent this many weeks at #1 on the catalog chart. That's Creed's 1997 album My Own Prison, which topped the catalog chart for 54 weeks in 2000-2001. Will Adele match that long run? At this point I wouldn't bet against her, would you?
Adele's DVD Live At The Royal Albert Hall sold 24K copies this past week. This brings its six-week total to 476K.
Skrillex's digital-only Bangarang jumps from #19 to #15 in its second week. The dance act has a second album in the top 50. Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites jumps from #51 to #49 in its 31st week. The latter album is nominated for a Grammy as Best Dance/Electronica Album. Skrillex is a finalist for Best New Artist.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking DawnPart One jumps from #37 to #34 in its ninth week. It's the week's #1 soundtrack for the third week. It has been the #1 soundtrack to a theatrically-released movie for all nine weeks.
Journey's Greatest Hits jumps from #107 to #73. The 1988 album has sold 8,001,000 copies since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard in 1991. It's the fourth best-selling greatest hits album since 1991, following the Beatles' 1 (11,992,000), Bob Marley & the Wailers' Legend (10,658,000) and Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band's Greatest Hits (9,127,000). The Marley and Journey albums have sold even more copies than these numbers indicate because they were released prior to 1991.
