It's that time of the year again. My top 50 of 2006 will begin this weekend. I may even throw in my top 10 albums, music videos, etc... if I feel like it.
While we wait on my top 50 of 2006, I am going to unveil my Top 10 Albums of 06.
10. Incubus - Light Grenades I felt that Light Grenades was better than A Crow Left of the Murder. The 1st single "Anna Molly" was great, but it's the 2nd single "Dig" that makes this album what it is.
BEST SONGS
1. Dig
2. Love Hurts
3. Anna Molly
09. Stone Sour - Come What(ever) May I wasn't really too big into Stone Sour until I heard this album. The 1st single "Through Glass" was an amazing song when I first heard it and it still is today. "30/30 150" should be a single if another one is released.
BEST SONGS
1. Through Glass
2. 30/30 150
3. Made of Scars
08. Beck - The Information This album may be the best Beck album he has released this decade. With the 1st single" Nausea" and the 2nd single "Think I'm in Love", Beck seems to be picking great singles. Now only if "Cellphone's Dead" could be the 3rd.
BEST SONGS
1. Cellphone's Dead
2. Nausea
3. Think I'm in Love
07. Lupe Fiasco – Food & Liquor This way hands out, the best rap album of the year. It also seemed like it took forever for the album to come out. It was well worth the wait, because it did not disappoint. This is what rap music should have been this year.
BEST SONGS
1. The Cool
2. American Terrorist
3. The Instrumental
06. Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere This was the album that came out of nowhere this year. These guys came out of nowhere and hit it big with "Crazy". This album has a little something for everybody. It definately was a big hit for me this year.
BEST SONGS
1. Gone Daddy Gone
2. Just a Thought
3. Smiley Faces
05. Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist I was really lucky to see the Deftones twice this year; once at the Taste of Chaos tour and the other at Family Values. These guys are amazing live and this album is simply one of their best.
BEST SONGS
1. Cherry Waves
2. Beware
3. Hole in the Earth
04. Muse - Black Holes and Revelations I was really caught by suprise by this album. I wasn't really a bug Muse fan until I heard this album. I wouldn't really call this an epic album, but it has an epic feel to it. This album has so many great songs that any song could be a single and I wouldn't complain
BEST SONGS
1. Starlight
2. Assassin
3. Knights of Cydonia
03. Nelly Furtado - Loose It seems most everyone on this forum loves this album, and why wouldn't they. The beats on this album are crazy and Nelly's voice is amazing on the album.
BEST SONGS
1. Maneater
2. Say It Right
3. All Good Things
2 and 1 may be up later tonight, by now everyone should know what they are.
02. Tool - 10,000 Days Tool came back in a big way this year with an album that was great from top to bottom. If it wasn't for my #1 album, thi would have been #1 easily. With hits like "Vicarious", "The Pot" , and the 3rd single "Jambi", this album is Tool at its best.
BEST SONGS
1. Vicarious
2. The Pot
3. Jambi
01. AFI - decemberunderground AFI really outdid themselves with this album. decemberunderground is AFI's best album to date and got them mainstream success as well. The guys got their 1st retired video on TRL with "Love Like Winter". The album has so many potential singles that I'd be happy with any of them. Songs like "37mm", "The Interview", "The Killing Lights" and "Summer Shudder" all could be potential singles. AFI quickly became my favorite artist in 2006 with this album. This is one album I will look back in in 5 years and still listen to it as much as I do today.
BEST SONGS
1. Love Like Winter
2. The Interview
3. Summer Shudder
There is the top 10 albums...I may throw in my top 10 non-singles of the year as well. That may came later this weekend or on Monday.
How right are you on Muse and Nelly F?
Black Holes & Revelations made me a Muse fan and appreciate their earlier stuff too, and Nelly F seriously gives hope to a dire CHR scene.
