I see lot's of Beyonce and Gaga stans acting like Katy and Rihanna only have succesfull singles,saying that it's not very important and tours and albums means more.
But is it true?I mean aren't songs is what general public knows about the artists.Aren't songs is the thing that represent singer in society?Aren't songs is the thing that lives long after artist death/retirement?
I mean...okay,Beyonce had succesfull tour last year.But no one will care about it in ten years,while songs like "Umbrella" and "Roar" will still have some airplay on radio.They will be known,unlike Beyonce singles from "4".They flopped on the radio when they were released and no one will play it in ten years from now.They will be irreverent.
Also some people here are saying that radio is not important.But the fact is that millions of people still listen's to it and even if they don't radio is everywhere:shops,malls,etc...Radio hit is a song that is well known by everybody.You can't conpensate this type of success with album that sold less than 2m.copies in USA.
So i'll say that success of singles is more important than tours and albums.

I'd hardly say Katy is a "quick lil singles" person. Her singles were anything but quick - her album era lasted from 2010 until well into 2012 and it's been 3 years since her last album.

Who cares? When an artists starts spending time hating on other artists they're irrelevant. Soon come the open letters.

Single success isn't that important vs strong touring or album sales. The fact that when you're old and people in other countries will still want to see you live is more powerful than singles that dry up after a year or two. It's all about longevity. Singles help, albums make an impact, touring seals the deal

Well Rihanna is a touring act since LOUD.!!! Rihanna sells singles and albums it's just her albums aren't up to par with her peers

Right. And most massive singles will be remembered for years to come, regardless of how well the album or tour sold.

I agree with what Beyonce's saying because when it comes to artists like Flo Rida, LMFAO, and Pitbull, it's pretty much all about the singles. The albums are just the singles + a few filler tracks. They don't have real artistry involved. There are no ballads or emotional songs on a Pitbull record.

Artists like Katy and Rihanna are in the middle between albums and singles, leaning towards singles. They have successful albums, people care about their music, but they are more known for their singles. They have those deeper songs that aren't meant to be on the radio, but they also have those huge songs that everybody knows.

I think touring is more irrelevant than Monsters and Hive make it out to be, it's certainly impressive that you have a dedicated fanbase, but as stated in the OP, nobody cares about a tour as soon as it's over. That's not the case with singles or albums.

Not Beyonce acting like she 'makes' albums, she just gets people to write them for her and goes in and sings the songs then leaves

But yes, this is what I always say. The GP doesn't remember a successful tour, they remember the hit singles that are always in their minds because they get played on the radio years after they've fallen from the charts.
