X-tina to debut 320k - 340k
AGUILERA’S BASICS LEADS TO #1
Album On Target for #1, 320k+ in Sales, Rappers Jennings, Trice, Country Star Adkins, Cherish and Cheetah Girls Also Bow
August 16, 2006
She ain’t misbehavin’, that’s for sure.
RCA diva Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics will get the year-end selling period off to a grand start next week, easily grabbing the #1 spot with a total that will soar past 320k and could reach as high as 340k. That’s information based on one-day sales from our network of retailers around the country, so blame them if it’s not accurate.
Columbia rapper Lyfe Jennings’ The Phoenix will rise with a first-week total of 130-140k, probably good enough for #2.
Shady/Interscope Eminem posse member Obie Trice is up next with Second Round’s on Me, which looks to be in the 80-90k range, meaning it will probably go head to head with Sony Music Group’s resilient Now 22 for the four-spot.
Capitol Nashville country star Trace Adkins proves a Dangerous Man with an estimated 80-90k in sales, while Capitol’s R&B sister act Cherish will ride their smash “Do It To It” to 75-80k in sales for their Unappreciated debut, which won’t go that way for long after a certain Top 10 bow. Disney’s Cheetah Girls look poised for an entry in the 70-80k range.
Next Tuesday, the big release will be OutKast’s LaFace/Zomba Idlewild soundtrack, with the movie slated to hit theatres Aug. 25.
Overall, the market was down a tad over 2% vs. last week, down a little over 8% vs. same week last year and now off between 5-6% year-to-date.

They need to correct that Lyfe is not a rapper he's a singer and all these predictions I made about the about these albums seem to be coming true I said Lyfe would come in at #2 behind Christina and it looks I will be right. This news obviously knows the next big release coming out and that is OutKast - Idlewild which will be the next album I get since the last one I got was Lil Wayne - Tha Carter II. I predict that Idlewild has as much success as Speakerboxx/The Love Below and goes diamond. I predict that in two weeks when it enters the chart sell over 500-600k in one week and overtake Back 2 Basics and easily debut at #1. Rap has been looking for their first huge album of 06 and Idlewild will be just it. So lets see if this prediction becomes right.

330k.
I think 340k is extremely solid for her, considering how much sales have dropped in the last 5 years. Back in 2002, this number would've been close to 400k.
plus, she'll be #1.

well ANOM is a bigger hit than Dirrty so there's no excuse this album is selling the same amount as last time. Didnt Dirrty barely pick in the Top40?

I think it didnt even crack Top50 (rofl). "Stripped" sales were really low before "Beautiful". Looks like the strojngest single from B2B will be ANOM so I can see B2B selling way less than Stripped

It's crazy to say, but that's not *that* much. Like I don't really see any huge, HUGE singles on the album, with ANOM being a big/moderate hit. This may not sell more then 2.5 million? Obviously solid but I don't know, she's one of the biggest young pop stars so expectations may be higher for her then others.

I predicted 285 K, but I'm glad I was wrong. There aren't any singles on B2B, so I doubt this one will sell more than 2 1/2 million copies.

I think that's right on target with where she should be.
"Dirty" peaked at #13 on CHR/Pop, for those who are comparing.
Anyway, it will take strong follow up singles to ANOM for her to reach 2 million in sales, but that's the case for any album with a start that is solid, but not exceptionally strong.
Worldwide sales should be solid as well, UK is reporting a #1 debut with 100k.
She'll do well.

I predicted either 340 or 350k, if I'm not wrong. Although I think it's a good number, it's not that good if we compare with Stripped, that sold 330k with a flop single, while ANOM is pretty much a hit. And please, the "sales are going down every year, if it was 2, 3 years ago it would be more" excuse is getting old. This (330-360k) is Christina's fanbase, and she would need a "We Belong Together" or a "Yeah!" kind of hit to sell more than this in her first week.

^ u forgot that WBT was 2nd single...
Its Like That was only a top15 hit. ITL did all the job for it to sell 400k+ first week.

It's not surprising. Longevity is her strong-point. As long as she stays consistent she'll be fine.
