I wonder if they asked the same to britney, the 944646346 performances she's made.

Oh please. We fans have no delusion that Britney can actually sing well live. We know she lip syncs, we accept it and we embrace it because we know we are still going to get a spectacularly choreographed performance. The funny thing about Christina doing it, is that she would normally be the type of artist you would expect to go to interviews and say "Oh, I would never lip sync. It's not being honest to the fans." People consider Christina to be the voice and Britney to be the performer, so of course when Christina tries to dabble in Britney's territory there is going to be backlash and people are going to **** bricks because the "singer" isn't actually singing. Britney's appeal isn't really her singing, thus no one gives a **** when she lip syncs.
I'm personally happy she did lip-sync and just had some fun up on the stage. It's nice to have an energetic/upbeat single from her that requires her to do some dancing, and not just stand there wishing she was an Andrews sister performing at a 1940s USO show.
