Along with clearing the air and setting the record straight, Lewinsky also decided to discuss her heavy presence in pop culture. She recognizes that her name is almost “iconic” and even recognized it in the Beyoncé hit, Partition. Lewinsky made it clear that Queen Bey used the wrong words in describing what happened in the back of that limo. In the song, Beyoncé sings about how ”He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse/He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown”. Lewinsky points out that Bey made a bad attempt at creating a verb for the action. In the essay she thanks Beyoncé for the reference but let’s her know that “if we’re verbing, I think you meant ‘Bill Clinton’d all on my gown,’ not ‘Monica Lewinsky’d,’”. She may have a point.
