What bugs me about this word is how overused it is. When someone doesn't like somebody or doesn't find them attractive, does that give them the right to call them ugly? Does that necessarily make the person that used the term ugly, but on the inside?
Especially at school, it becomes an even more hurtful word. Someone that didn't find my friend attractive (when they're perfectly beautiful in their own way) called them ugly and my friend was deeply affected. She ended up having a deep complex because it hurt her so much.
Do you consider ugly a hateful word?
Isn't someone that calls someone ugly, ugly themselves?
In my opinion, I do believe it's a hateful word. I realized this when I said someone was ugly, when they necessarily weren't. They were just unattractive to me. Using that term made me feel like an ugly person.
How do you define "being ugly" or is it too difficult to find an exact meaning?
Sorry if I made this sound so confusing, it's hard to exactly put what I think into words.
