I hope Gaga doesn't let Madonna's blatant bullying make her depressed or suicidal. I guess you can grow up and have all the success in the world still get bullied by someone (Madonna, in this case). Because the original is Otis Redding's "Respect", though both songs are noted as influences for Madonna's. Not sounding like an exact replica in every way, shape and form, smart guy.
It might be attention seeking, something she thrived to be all her career but despite being funny, this also comes of as insecure and threatened by a young/new artist. Whatever is the way you try to twist it.
Also this will bring some cackles to Gaga's haters now but in the long run it will serve her more than anything. She will ALWAYS be compared to Madonna now and for legitimate reasons not just for some superficial reasons like the other pop princesses have been. Madonna's next article in relevant publications will once again have Gaga's name written in bigger characters than hers and BEFORE she is even mentioned (see NY Times) .
