Yes, it's fluffy teen pop, but to say that so pejoratively is to dismiss its considerable accomplishments completely. The whole genius of BOMT (and the best of the bubblegum pop movement) is that is captures the heightened euphoria and distress of young love in a catchy, hook-y package. BOMT may not try to be anything deeper than that, but we need music for all occasions and experiences in life. For what it sets out to do, the song is remarkably mature, extremely well-composed and very genuinely felt.
