A$AP Rocky inspired by Gays & encourages tolerance.
Quote:
arlem native A$AP Rocky, one of The BoomBox's 2012 Artists to Watch, has earned his first cover story of the year, gracing the front of Complex magazine's February/March issue alongside rebellious designer Jeremy Scott.
In the story, which hits newsstands Feb. 7, the 'Peso' creator and Rihanna's go-to-guy for tour wardrobe shared a candid conversation about their respective careers, a passion for fashion and music and homosexuality.
Though Rocky, 23, fancies the curves of a woman, he admits that doesn't stop him from being creatively inspired by a homosexual man.
"I can still be greatly inspired by a homosexual," he tells Complex. "It has nothing to do with their sexuality. If I start discriminating against people, that will stop me as a person. That's ignorant. What the f--- does that have to do with anything? It's not like I want to date this motherf---er -- I'm inspired by this dude."
Now that fans are actively looking for his lyrics and next video to be released, he recognizes he can possibly change the mindset of those who discriminate against gays. "I'm not saying I'm going to be an activist," he continues. "I want to enlighten those brothers. I used to be like them, but I'm a grown-ass man. I don't care what another man does with his time."
