I've had quite a few conversations on who should pay on the first date, the guy or the girl. Some have said they think the guy should pay because it's "traditional" and some have felt that the girl should be. What do you think? Also, we're thinking about this from a heteronormative view; what about a gay couple or lesbian couple; who pays on the first date then?
I think the guy should pay the bill because of courtesy, although agreement on paying the bill is advisable since come girls dont like being spoiled or something like that.
Whoever has more money should pay. Its never good to let a poor person pay for anything at least that's always my excuse for never paying for anything

Well I think the person who asks the other person out on the date should pay. Plain and simple. Regardless or gender or sex. However, I also think that the person who doesn't have to pay should be considerate of the prices. Like, don't go order a $250 lobster just because you're not paying for it. I'm not into that traditional "guy always has to pay regardless" bs.

I'm a guy my name was supposed to be countryfriedchicken but I didn't look to see it stopped at chick and I was joking about that I always pay on the date unless the girl insists
But I'm paying for my meal....if my date expected me to pay......then we should have went some where free(or made sandwiches) **** gas alone is high...I'm a college student on a budget......

I've always been against the whole "gentlemanly" thing when it comes to anything really. "You do it, you're the guy" pisses me off so much! It's not the idea of doing nice things for others, I'll hold the door for you whether your're a guy or girl. What bothers me is that guys are expected to do all the little things for the girls when girls in every other part of life try to equal themselves to men, like in jobs etc. And I'm totally for it and I think by now the world (at least the west) understands men and women are equal. So why do people still persist with the whole "you're the guy" thing?

Some women want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to live by tradition (i.e. men have to be gentlemen) but then want to break tradition by advocating for equality in the workforce/etc.
