I thought it might have been something with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. I guess this is ok.
Michelle Trachtenberg will eventually be my wife, so i'll support her movies.

I think this could end up being the best horror movie of the year, next to The Descent.

This is actually a remake. The original is a legendary & influnential film in the slasher genre and was probably the first of its kind. And lets just say the slasher himself really "cleans house."

No way will Billy live up to the fame of Michael Myers.



But it'll come close.

Eh, I wouldn't say it was the first of its kind. Last House On The Left predated it by two years. But you can't deny that both were hugely influential and helped create the horror films of the last thirty years.

This remake, though? Unless word of mouth is solid, I think i'm going to pass.

Well of course I knew that, the original is one of my favorite movies of all time.

This appears to be almost nothing like it though. It gives Billy a back story and has like 4 more girls than the other. Which is why I see it being a solid flick.

They cut out the unicorn death scene and made it an offscreen kill.

They did re-shots for the movie for the second time, because all the movie was spoiled on the internet, now it seems that there are three endings to the movie.

I heard about that. I heard not even most of the actors know how it ends (like Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and I guess only the actors involved would know. Which would be who? Katie Cassidy?

Did you all know Mary Elizabeth Winstead was the original Jessica Bennett on NBC's Passions?

It's apparently set for release on Christmas Day. I think this is a dumb move, cuz who is gonna ditch their family to go see a horror movie? Plus once Xmas is over I think people will be out of the whole holiday mode. They should release the Friday before in my opinion.

I am not too keen on the remake of horror movies. I mean take for example, The Hills Have Eyes-I just dont think the movie turned out well at all with updated special effects. The movie may have been pushing the buttons with the rape scene in the original, but the remake in my opinion went a little too far, as it also did with the burning scene.
We must ask ourself if being able to portray certain things more grotesquely is always a good thing. While the original was a classic, it became so by leaving out pieces of the murders-if Im not mistaking the killer wasnt even revealed right? Either way, I think that as with every remake, part of the story and its cohesiveness will be lost and it will be a flop.
I am more concerned about the remake of Last House On the Left, which is one of my favorite movies, but in the same manner I am VERY VERY worried about how far they will take it. I mean, my assumption will be that they will ruin the movie and forever tarnish its name with todays viewers (much like the Wicker Man-the original was amazing, the remake was a total piece of garbage).
For comparison to people who may not have seen any of the originals, lets compare House of 1000 Corpses with Devils Rejects. House was very grotesque, in my opinion far too much than it should have been (dont get me wrong i love Rob Zombie), but lets wonder what would have happened if Rob decided to make Devils Rejects even more gruesome than its predicesor? Most likely it would not have been the success that it was-he saw that the horror genre does not need to keep getting gorier and gorier but instead can maintain fear through psychology instead of blood and guts everywhere-character development is key to success in movies, and unfortunately todays horror movies seem to lack that, they seem to only focus on blood and guys without tieing it all together with a proper story line...Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Beginnings anyone?

^TMC:TB did have a storyline though? We knew the kids were on there way to Vietnam and that one was going dodge the draft by going to Mexico. We also has the whole Leatherface back story. It certainly had more development than other movies, a better example I think would be something like Jason X, in which we never learned anything about the characters.

I see the BC remake being a good thing. Because it appears to have a more developed storyline than the original even did. We never learned anything about the killer in it, we heard him whisper the name Agnes and say "It's Billy" but nothing more. While this flick has his entire back story mapped out. Not to mention almost every actress in it is a fairly well known name.

The best recent horror hasn't been coming from America, The Descent had a good story and was scary. High Tension started out identical to a Dean Koontz book and then flipped the switch with an insane twist ending.

I think the BC remake has a good chance of being a good horror flick. I hope it doesn't let me down.
