While I don't think these comments are very nice, I'm definitely going to watch this. Borat had me in tears and wanting to vomit the entire time. Bruno was okay.
I'm arab and I was raised muslim and I wasn't offended by the movie at all. I love sacha baron cohen- Bruno is one of my favorite movies ever. I applaud him for taking big risks and doing offensive stuff- but the majority of the humor/jokes fell horribly flat in the theater. No one really laughed but like once. The direction he took with it was way off- he made it like a more normal movie instead of doing his usual thing where he goes around and punks people.
As for the people saying racist stuff- thats fine I don't let that **** bother me. My mom just got screamed at during traffic today for wearing the scarf. Someone told her that she shouldn't be allowed to drive because shes wearing a hijab. Ignorant racist people aren't worth my hatred or time. They aren't worth putting any thought into basically. They're dead to me.
And this is why I hate Cohen and his stupid movies. He's only making the ignorant more stupid and racist.
I think it's more of bringing out the already present stupidity and racism in people than making people more stupid and racist. Haven't seen The Dictator yet, but I know that was a big part of Borat. Because of this movie, people are actually paying attention to and collecting these racist tweets. It raises awareness in a roundabout way, as satire usually does.
People missed the point of the movie -- it was satirizing Americans' fear of Muslims/Arabs. (I know they're not interchangeable, which is one of the points of the movie, I'm just saying).
Anyway, I found it pretty funny. I especially loved the Katy Perry shade
Funny thing is... The movie isn't about Arabs It's about a person who's from Wadiya (a fictional country) And even in the movie The Dictator mentions "but I'm not Arab" These people are so damn ignorant
