People stan for all types of things. video games sports teams and athletes gods and prophets politicians and Monarchs. It been going on for ages.

It is a little weird when "stans" go in on an artist on twitter etc like they know them personally, but other than that it's not too weird. I'm a fan of everyone, and like most people I have moments of defending 1 artist to death (and by defending I mean defending with facts and opinion etc not calling an artist ugly ) but that's temporary.

I think it's weird and we all waste a lot of time here but I have nothing better to do, so whatever.

"Stanning" or "stan" is not a real word though, this is just stupidity, lack of grammar and laziness. "Obsessive fan" are the proper words to use.

For the most part no although it can get out of control. I think having all of someone's cds, posters in your room, etc. isn't that weird and most people do that at least once in their life. When stanning gets to the point where it's taking over your entire life even when you're with other people who don't share the same obsession or you are getting extremely upset/mad about something to do with your favorite celebrity then it is too much. I love Christina Aguilera but if somebody says something bad about her IRL then I don't fly off the handle. It's not that serious.
