It's smart and more artists should do this, I hate this crappy re-releases nowadays, most artists record much more than the album itself, but for minor reasons some tracks don't make the cut or are slightly unfinished, and end up being shelved forever, then after a year or so they record another session or re-work some demo's/Leftovers for a re-release which also has leftovers that don't make the cut. A lot of wasted material that easily could be released as album instead of 3/4 additions or a re-release EP.

To have 2 albums a few months later is also smart, you can think out certain singles for certain seasons and situations and still keep things fresh and also a good amount of material to release from, people can call it milking, but this actually gives his fans new music and not pushfeatures and other remixes to keep the album and hype going.
