Honoring a singular accomplishment on the Billboard charts during the Billboard Music Award charting year, the Spotlight Award goes to Katy Perry this year. August 27, 2011 was a fine day for the pop phenomenon: "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" ascended to the No. 1 position on Billboard's Historic Hot 100 singles chart. This was the fifth song from her Teenage Dream album to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100, tying the record set by Michael Jackson's Bad album, and establishing Perry as the only female artist in history to achieve five No. 1s from one album.
