The Sketchers fitness shoes Kim Kardashian tried to convince you to buy don't actually work ... not even a little bit ... so says the federal government.
The Federal Trade Commission has determined Sketchers made unfounded claims about its Shape-Ups shoes ... pushed by bot-bodied spokespeople like Kim K and Brooke Burke.
According to the FTC, Sketchers lied about clinical studies which the company said proved the shoes help people lose weight and strengthen muscles in the ass, legs and stomach.
In fact, Sketchers has agreed to pay $45 million in settlement costs ... and anyone who bought the shoes will be eligible for a refund.
Still, Sketchers is reportedly disputing the FTC decision -- and plans to conduct more research on the effects of the shoe.
Nothing surprising here. How can a shoe make you lose weight?
Same with Power Balance that previously admitted that their product was all bogus. I mean, why would wearing a bracelet make you more fit, healthier or more energetic? How?? In what sense?
They don't work at all, but my Mom wears them because they are very cushioned and absorb the shock - she has a lot of pain in her feet and these really really help her. So they're useful for other purposes.
