As the 28-year-old actor's superhero ensemble movie "The Avengers" brings in jaw-dropping box office returns, the "Thor" star has also become a first-time father.
Hemsworth and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, have welcomed a baby girl named India, a rep for the actor told CNN.
While Hemsworth would only say to E!'s Giuliana Rancic that the two became three "very recently," he did explain the meaning behind his little girl's name.
“It was just a name we liked,” Hemsworth said. “I always kind of liked Indie or Indiana for a boy, and [Elsa] liked India."
As the couple planned to keep the gender a surprise, "We sorta went, 'Oh well, whether it's a boy or a girl that will decide.' It just seemed to fit."
Pataky, 35, told the Spanish language magazine Hola! earlier this year about her excitement over becoming a mom, and Hemsworth added to E! that he too has been looking forward to this moment.
"I've wanted to have kids for a long time, and here it is, and I couldn't be happier," he said.
Hemsworth and Pataky were married in December 2010 in Indonesia.
