Mariah's a popstar tho... always was. As we look back, we see how she was an R&B diva, but you have to understand at the time, she was just as pop as Katy Perry.
She approached it well. She doesn't want to endorse the X-Factor, because of her husband's ties to America's Got Talent (is he still the host?), but she also seems to genuinely like Britney Spears.
