Saw it last night, and I gotta say I have not laughed that hard in a looooong time. The movie is genius and so is Sacha Baron Cohen. The amazing thing that 98% of all the people are unsuspecting schmucks reacting at the crazy sh!t Borat does.

Even if you're not an Ali G fan, you gotta trust me on this: If you really want to ROTFLOL you gotta see 'Borat'! I laughing right now just thinking back on the movie.

The funniest scenes (w/o giving 2 much away) involve a elderly Jewish couple, a driving instructor, a gypsy, a Kazakh festival, a group of African-American teens, a group of uptight socialites, a Pentacostal church, a rodeo show, and Pamela Anderson.

But the funniest scene is one that words cannot do justice to. to not spoil anything, I'll just say this: Borat and his producer fighting. You will be left speechless to what happens next.

Hands down, 'Borat' is the funniest film in a long time! To quote Borat: "i like" A

everything about it lived up to my very high expectations. I need to see the movie again in theaters, cause some parts of the movie you couldn't hear any dialogue at all. the explosions of laughter from the crowd were just deafening. the loudest laughter i've ever heard in my life. only shame about this is that the Borat character is pretty much dead after this movie.

The movie made $26 million in only 870 theatres.
That's a per theatre average of $31,000 per theatre. This is in the same ballpark as movies such as Spiderman, Pirates of the Caribeean, Harry Potter, etc.

Compare that to Santa Clause 3 and Flushed Away; which had a per theatre average of $5,500.

Fox actually did that on purpose, or so i've heard, because it was afraid that the humor in the movie wouldn't catch on. If it DID catch on, however, they'd move it up to the amount it was supposed to get before the theater count was cut back. Well, it did catch on.

It's entirely possible that Borat could have an INCREASE in box office next week just because of the amount of theaters being added. And with the critic reaction and word of mouth...we could be looking at one of the biggest movies of the year.

I want to see this one now, I talked with a couple of my friends who said it was extremely good and funny. I'm suprised that Santa Clause 3 failed to match Borat's numbers, I think that one should've been released during Thanksgiving. As for flushed away, HOW many other animated films featuring some sort of talking animals/insects have we had this year? (Ice Age 2, Ant Bully, Open Season, The Wild, Over the Hedge, etc. etc.) This is why Cars and Monster House should recieve some Oscar attention for best animated flick.

It will maintain a similar gross (probably a drop by around 15-20%), and it's theatre average will be severely diluted; but, still. Word of mouth will carry this.

I expected more than 26m. This is kind of a flop for a movie of this status.

What's the average theater numbers for a movie?

A usual wide release opens between 2500 and 3500 theaters. Really anticipated movies opened in more. 'Pirates 2' for instance opened in 4100 theaters. Borat in less than 900. So the fact it made that much money IS amazing.

Very Funny movie. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. A-.

You obviously know very little about the box office.
If anything - Borat's opening weekend is probably the biggest success story for the box office this year.

I really hope so. cause really, I haven't seen an actor put that much devotion into a character ever.

I finally watched this today and I will go and say it is the best comedy I have seen in the last 5-10 years. Maybe the best comedy I have ever seen.
