The quality of the song really has no baring on it being remembered or forgotten by the general public.
Songs just don't leave a mark anymore like they used to, and that's just because things are faster now. Songs shoot up to #1 and then disappear. It doesn't matter how good or bad a song is, it will be forgotten. The fact that we live in a increasingly ADD society doesn't help either.
Why else do you think that every time Kelly has a new era, the GA act like they haven't seen her since Breakaway?
Look at 2011, Rolling In The Deep is probably the only song the GA will remember 5 years from now, to a lesser extent We Found Love. But even now, I can't name a single hit from 2011 outside those 2 songs.
