Those societies advanced that way BECAUSE OF THE BIBLE. The Bible shaped very early human morals, and the morals were passed on to children, sometimes without the help of the Bible. So although the Bible isn't directly affecting public policy as much, it does indirectly

I believe In being a good person. You don't need the bible to know right from wrong

because people don't like to question their religion, they dont like to see the contradictions, lose their faith, and end up in hell

It's one thing to let others believe what they want but why not discuss and pick apart something as personal as religion?

And why not learn all the details about a religion before deciding to follow it?

If someone wants to "blindly follow a religious text without questioning it" then more power to them. Their relationship with a religious text has no bearing on what I'm doing with my life. It's only when provocation is present that one should have an issue with that.

Personally, I've questioned the Bible and my religion many times, and I don't agree with everything that the Bible states. But what I do believe in is the power of God and the occurrences in the text.

But if you think about it, it's one of the reasons why it progresses too.

It's a delicate subject.

It has to be discussed though especially if we have people with different beliefs and lifestyles being condemned for it . It's not something we can just ignore.

Learning about the details of a religion before deciding to follow it implies that there is interest in following said religion. Questioning the legitimacy of a religion and its followers' belief is completely different.
