Obviously. He lied for political gain in terms of the African American constituency in Chicago. You can just read it in the way he crafts his stance. He believes in equality for gays and lesbians for what he deems civil rights - hospital visits, owning a home, etc. but believes "marriage is not a civil right." He doesn't directly say what you think and escapes the badgering.

I think he would've toned it down regardless of who he was running against. But yeah, back in 2008, everyone pretty much knew both he and Hilary Clinton weren't as anti- gay marriage as they made themselves out to be. Sad, as it may be, the majority of voters isn't pro gay marriage.

Well yeah, but I don't think he would have gone so far as to say marriage isn't a civil right if he wasn't running against an extreme homophobe like Keyes, who later disowned his daughter for being lesbian. Chicago is pretty liberal, if I can remember correctly so late at night, so there wouldn't be the need.
Why does everyone keep relating gay marriage back to "but kids need two parents" or "that's not how a family should be" as if every gay man is going to run out and grab themselves a Malawian as soon as they are married.

Why should SHE have any say in this ****? Not her commenting on kids needing a mother and a father when her ****ty ass got knocked up as a minor (before marriage), never married her baby daddy, and ended up breaking up with him?
And why should a gay COUPLE not be allowed to raise children together and be married when there are plenty of SINGLE straight parents, such as herself? It makes no sense.
