Aalyiah & Ciara: The LAST Battle
Okay guys can we please just settle this once and for all. I've read so much on these two being compared and its really starting to piss me off. Okay I am a real Aaliyah fan no joke. But i'm sick and tired of these fake fans. IMO Aalyiah sings better than Ciara but she has nothing on Ciara with dancing and to tell you the truth there both the same to me. I was in another board a miniute ago. And they said that Ciara was a better overall artist than Aaliyah because Aayliah was robot that was fed Timbaland beats and never gave any input on what she did. And now that I think about it it's kinda true because Aaliyah was really quiet and it seemed like timbaland did all the work. But love both and like I said Aaliyah has lil better singing than Ciara but Ciara has dancing down.
What do you think and guys think please be real. Don't say Aaliyah's a legend because she's not but I still luv her.

This argument took place over at Pulse, right? lol
Aaliyah may not be much of a vocalist but her voice is still beautiful. She has to be one of most soothing singers in decades. As for her material, it was consistently killer. There is not one Aaliyah album I dislike (minus I Care 4 U). One In A Million & her self-titled junior effort are R&B classics, IMO. The negative aspects of Aaliyah's artistry is that she had almost zero input into the music her name was tagged on to. She was in fact being fed Timbo's beats as if she were a robot.
Ciara, Ciara, Ciara. My greatest guilty pleasure. Not much of a vocalist but in my opinion, she can hold her own. Her dancing skills are like no one else's in the music industry right now (minus Janet). Ciara has more input than the vast majority of contemporary R&B artists today. She has writing credits for 95% of her recordings and apparently, almost every track on her sophomore effort is co-produced by Ciara.
I can't really say I prefer one over the other. Ciara is definitely more an "artist" but I grew up on Aaliyah so it's a tie for me.
P. S. Down with the fake-ass Aaliyah fans. I've had it with their nonsense.

I too am a BIG Aaliyah fan. She shouldn't be compared to Ciara at all. Not to take anything from Ciara, i also am a fan of Ciara and her album "Goodies". But i think Aaliyah had more talent, and as an artist was at a higher level. Sure we can start having a battle here, comparing statistics and billboard #'s and award nominations but who cares. I agree Aaliyah is not a legend. As for Ciara she will never be a legend. They are simply good artist. Yes, Aaliyah didnt have a powerful voice, just a soulful gentle easy listening. As for Ciara well she can't sing but it doesnt mean that her records arent fun. We all know Aaliyah didnt write her records, but I mean come on, she was given phenomenal work. As for Ciara she does, but ... well how much can one rhyme with Goodies or 1, 2 Step. I honeslty think if Aaliyah were here she would of gone on to do far better things. I can't wait to hear The Evolution by Ciara because i know it's going to be HOT!. But if i had to pick one most definetly Aaliyah. Why? providing me with three great album two of which could be on an r&b classic list. But to the Ciara fans out there no disrespect, the girl got skills.

I Agree 100% But You Can't Ciara won't be a legend because look at Janet she started off just like Ciara did and plus Ciara's still young she has to grow with her music

Ciara and Aayliyah are completely different and are not comparable, especially as we are never going to be able to tell exactly how Aaliyah would have turned out. = ( Aaliyah had a smoothness about her voice that was well recepted (along with her blossoming acting ability) and Ciara is dancer known for her catchly lyrics and dance moves.

Now remember, I'm a Aaliyah fan, but I know she wasn't as "amazing" as everyone (the FAKE fans) make her out to be, but ya'll know i hate untalented hoes and ciara does next to nothing for me (I've only liked 5 Ciara songs to date, "Promise", "Get Up", "Oh", "Goodies", & "And I", so le tme just say that I won't be biased even though Ciara ain't **** IMO.
Okay, a certain person who KNOWS I'm about to reference them might not like this comment, but it needs to be said.
NEWSFLASH: Ciara's 30 minutes of fame are going to be over soon anyways; not because her overall lack of vocal ability, but because the way album are being bought now-a days, her album will probably struggle to get to platnum. If Christina Aguilera isn't even platnum yet and she's a big artists, then what do you say for her? i know they're different, but I highly doubt that a certain 1 or 2 CiCi fans are buying 500,000 copies of her album. Sure, a hot single or two might get some sucess and all, but that doesn't always translate into album sales; ask Fergie.
Ciara IS more of an artist than Aaliyah ever was, but then again, Aaliyah wasn't the only artist to be hand fet material. We all kniow that Beyonce doesn't write al her material, she just wants thaat production check. I know for a fact that singers such as Avant & Rihanna don't write a lot of their material. A few R&B artists who do write don't get accolades like Omarion (as much as we all may not like him, his lyrics are really good), Tamia, LeToya, and we all know Ne-Yo can write.
But in the end, I think that even though she was being fed fork & spoon her material, Aaliyah DID have better material, only because she had Timbo doing the work for her. The comparisons between Ciara and Aaliyah only come from similar vocal stylings, but Aailyah CLEARLY is/was more talented in that area. Besides Ciara currently rocking black weave like aaliyah had, there's nothing else to compare.
DAMN that was long :$

In my opinion if Aaliyah was alive in this year you would see her name written in the co-produced, lyrics whatever part of the booklet because now people find that more important than before...back then no one cared if an artist could sing or write or whatever, the music was just the only thing that matter.
(when I say back then is 1998+ 2001, around there...)

Arith Ciara will proably go platnium I really don't understand how Christina Isn't gold and CHERISH is. Now a days anything can happen that's why its not real good to make predictions that quick
Once again why do some people keep saying that Ciara's fame is coming to an end she has her fame because she earned it. Can't a person do something without people saying there nothing. A pesron that anit **** wouldn't have 7 Top 10 Singles. At least she isn't as bad as cassie's non-singing, non-performing ass. Ciara will be talked about all- the time but how her music is still liked I just don't understand

Arith, Aguilera is struggling because the album is expensive. Why don't people get that already? It is by no means a flop and I know you weren't saying that but I want to make that perfectly clear. The industry may not be doing so well but people need to relax, it's not doing that bad. Yes, artists are missing out on a few certifications because of it but albums are still selling. Our industry isn't comparable to Iraq's, yet.
No one is to judge how much time Ciara has left in the spotlight or how she'll be viewed in the distant future. Only time will tell. But judging by the success "Get Up" is enduring at Pop radio, as well as its success in internationally, and how "Promise" is taking off at Urban radio, I say she has more than a year in the bag.

Umm, 1-N-Only-21? Cherish hasn't even rreached the 300,000 mark and they're not platnum. Christina's well past gold, I believe she's around 860,000

I know B2B is expensive. But on Ciara, I'll give her this album, and I honestly think she's done. Sorry

No need to apologize, I'm not upset over this. I just don't understand why you won't give a valid reason for why you think her time is almost up. Is it because the Grammy committee isn't shoved up her ass hole, most of her music is up tempo, or she's not the critic's darling? I'd like to know.

Brian, isn't it obvious why I think her time is up? You know how I don't like Rihanna? Guess who occupied my eternal hatred before she came along?
But seriously, I just don't think that she can continue to evolve as a artist without any vocal growth, and that's the one department she lacking in (well, besiides the cup of her bra, but that's a WHOLE different thread). She has the whole "artistic input" down, but juding by how she's saying that besides "Promise", a lot of the songs are dance songs, ect; I dont' feel that Ciara is ever gonna do something outside the box besides "Promise" and the ever-boring "And I". I'm not saying that it's becaus eher songs are pretty much up-tempo, but I'd like to see her grow more as an artist because we already know she cna write and dance her ass off, but I'd at least like a vocal improvement, even if it's slight.
Oh, and after watching her "So You Think You Can Dance" performance from earlier in thre summer, that **** was SADLY Pre-Recorded vocal, but once again; that's another thread.

Arith, how much growth do you expect between album #1 & #2 and for someone who just turned 21? Oh and vocal growth, there has been, even if it is very little. Her voice has been expressed on "Get Up" & "Promise" more than any track on her debut. Most of what you are saying is based entirely on your opinions and, again, you have yet to give me a valid reason as to why she won't last.

I think that Ciara can last because she can continue Janet's legacy. Someone needs to do it. Janet is lacking the good material. But Ciara does not have Janet's advantages. First of all, Michael is Janet's brother. 2nd of all, Janet was the first so she's seen as the innovator and not imitator. I'm not saying that Ciara is imitating Janet but the influence is clear. Ciara will have to work hard. Just like how Britney will have to work hard to last as long as Madonna. They might fail or they might end up better than their influences. Only time will tell.

The only one of these three that actually SOLD Gold is Yung Joc. LeToya has SHIPPED Gold, she's sold around 450K. Cherish shipped Gold, but they haven't sold gold yet.

Well Aaliyah vocally was definantly better. I mean her vocals weren't mind-blowing, but she was talented. She could sing, and she had a really nice voice to listen to. Ciara vocally is improving this time around. Dancing, their styles are different. Maybe Ciara is the better dancer, I don't know. I just prefer Aaliyah's dancing better. And well then acting, both have little experience, but Romeo Must Die was a good movie and Aaliyah had a lot of potential in being a good actress. I don't think Aaliyah was hand fed material what so ever. Yeah, she didn't write her own material. And I guess be able to write your own material gives you more credibility sometimes as an artist. But her producers and song writers were her close friends, they made songs for her, because they knew her so well they knew what she liked and didn't like and how she wanted to be presented as an artist. I think her influence and style was in the music, her songs were based on her vision and input too.

This is just my opinion and I love them both
But I think that Aaliyah created her own style she did things very unique and had her own way about her music and such
Ciara's material (her look/her music/her dance moves) all seem to be influenced by someone else

It hurts to say this & I can't believe I have to say it but...Aaliyah is overrated. I really don't understand how some of you can go around saying she had her own style and that her music was unique. It's all untrue. Her style was donned by artists years before her and the only original aspect of her music was that she was probably the only young teen singing about adult experiences.
