Frankly, I don't find the dress particularly flattering at any facet. That's really my opinion of it. Though, given the photos that you've posted versus the final product, it's obvious that a few changes were made under the wire; possibly even en route.
Her main issue, it seems, is the tailoring of the dress; an ill-fitting. The dress itself may have been too long, which could have been rectified with a hemming, but instead became this:
